Para realizar el diseño del Unicornio, Hergé se basó en una precisa documentación de navíos del siglo XVII, en el museo de la Marina de París Buen libro, aunque es una lástima que no haya podido conseguir El Tesoro de Rackham el Rojo, la continuación de El Secreto del Unicornio, en edición rústica, solo lo ofrecen en cartoné.
