Entre 1980 y 1997 trabajó para la BBC como corresponsal de la cadena en Moscú, Washington, Bruselas y Varsovia. Desde 1997 hasta 2002 trabajó para el Gobierno británico como director de comunicación. Actualmente es escritor, presentador y periodista. Ha escrito The Litvinenko File, Moscow Coup: The Death of the Soviet System, Philomena y dos novelas: Spin y I Heard Lenin Laugh. Historia interesante que al ser verídica todavia se hace más leible.De hecho el libro se basa mucho más en la vida del hijo de Filomena que en Filomena misma, que en el relato apenas tiene relevancia, al contrario que la película del mismo título, donde el hijo y su historia pasan desapercibidos y que está basada en la madre, o sea en Filomena. Personalmente encuentro mucho más interesante el libro y la vida de Michael que la película . En realidad, la película, que vi después de leer el libro, me defraudó bastante.Recomendaria su lectura a quien disfrute con historias reales.

Philomena es la historia de una búsqueda, todo el libro desarrolla esa búsqueda y la verdad es que te va dejando un poco acongojado, sobre todo cuando descubres que es una historia real, o al menos, está basada en una historia real. Y te alegras de que la humanidad haya evolucionado un poquito. A ratos se me hizo un pelín lenta pero en general, la recomendaría.
